KensingTAN

The JJ Holland Park has a new walking/running circuit.  The 1.2km track roughly runs around the park’s circumference.  Since its construction, it has been used by joggers, walkers, riders, dogwalkers, kids on trikes, you name it! It has been lovingly nicknamed, the KensingTAN.

Due to the inclement weather, the number of events was drastically reduced.  The results are as follows :

TAN open event (5 laps)

  1. Ruwanmal Palapathwala 21.04 (aged 17)
  2. John Smith 21.24
  3. Michael Becker 22.26

Race for Town Hall winner

  • Donna Lancaster (Greens) successfully ‘ran for council’.

Runners Stats

  • Children’s Run – 48 runners.
    Youngest 3 yrs old
  • Adult’s Run – 40 runners (+ 3 dogs).
    Oldest runner mayoral candidate Bob ‘King’Crawford septuagenarian

Holland Park Alive! will provide a number of events focussing upon the KensingTAN.  The focus is on fun and participation, not competition.

The events are as follows:

  • Pram walk – 1 lap
  • 7 and under – 1 lap
  • 9 and under – 1 lap
  • 11 and under – 2 laps
  • 13 and under – 3 laps
  • 15 and under – 4 laps
  • Open – 5 laps
  • Hound dog walk – 1 lap

The first event will commence at 4pm.

The contenders for the City of Melbourne Council have been invited to compete in a ‘Race to Town Hall‘.  Come and see if any take up the challenge to, literally Run for Council.
